In October 2023, two eclipses are forming: a Solar eclipse on October 14th at 20:59 and a Lunar eclipse on October 28th at 23:14. The Solar eclipse forms during the New Moon in Libra, while the Lunar one occurs during the Full Moon with the Sun in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus.
What does this eclipse corridor mean?
The effects of the eclipses can be felt significantly in advance, with the most intense period being one week before and one week after each eclipse. This time span between two adjacent eclipses is called the “eclipse corridor.”
Both eclipses form near the South Node (Ketu), bringing into focus the consequences of actions taken in the spring (during the eclipse period of April-May). This prompts introspection and a look back to review decisions, accept their outcomes, discern what was done correctly, and what wasn’t. It’s a time to reflect on what to continue with and which patterns, habits, relationships, and activities to release.
The October eclipses echo the themes from the spring eclipses, which were formed near the North Node (Rahu), representing evolutionary directions. Now, these directions are being reassessed, leading to experiences and possible adjustments based on past actions.
In 2023, the eclipses are aligned with the Aries-Taurus (Rahu) and Libra-Scorpio (Ketu) axes. The luminaries (Sun and Moon) during the eclipse year are also in these signs. This signifies a tension between desires for peace, making agreements, combativeness, prosperity, abundance, taking risks, and the push for transformation.
What are the topics of the autumn 2023 eclipses?
Both October eclipses revolve around pausing, reviewing, and grappling with the repercussions of the past. However, they distinctly affect the zodiac signs differently. As usual, the Solar eclipse, more related to consciousness and self-realization processes, sets the tone. Meanwhile, the Lunar Eclipse resonates more with subconscious and emotional processes.
During the first eclipse, the Libra sign is particularly emphasized. Those under cardinal signs (Libra, Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer), especially individuals born in the latter half of these signs, will experience its effects most intensely. Key themes of this eclipse are relationships, partnerships, collaboration, and peacekeeping.
The subsequent eclipse accentuates the opposition between Scorpio and Taurus. This will be most felt by those under fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius). Primary themes revolve around finances, well-being, emotional stability, and the urge for transformation.
Solar Eclipse on October 14th
The solar eclipse will coincide with the New Moon in Libra. Not only will the Sun and Moon be present here, but Mercury will also join, and of course, Ketu (South Node). This draws attention to past relationships, cooperation, partnerships, and their outcomes. It urges a review of these themes, to discern what’s essential and what’s not, to shake up one’s contacts, to reconsider one’s image and exchanges – not only with a partner but also with society.
The peculiarity of the solar eclipse is that it particularly highlights one area, emphasizing the challenges and issues within it, but also the power of realization. After all, an eclipse is like a leap over an abyss into a new reality, a kind of “matrix reboot.” It’s a powerful time when actions and decisions have hundreds of times more impact.
Yet, during the year of the eclipses (especially near Ketu), it’s advisable to be an observer, not a doer, since the external guiding force is compelling. It’s hard to steer it according to one’s wishes – one needs to listen to it, feel its direction, and act upon it later with clarity.
What Buddhist tradition says about eclipses can be found here
During this time, natural questions arise
- Who’s with me on this journey, and who’s not?
- What kind of partner am I? Am I reliable?
- Do I give enough in partnerships?
- What do I gain from cooperation?
- What should a fair exchange be? How can I ensure fair exchanges in society and partnerships?
- What could I do to make cooperation more fruitful?
- What kind of partners do I need?
- How do I appropriately allocate time, attention, and resources?
- Society will also demand justice and equitable resource distribution, highlighting the pursuit of social justice, and attention will be directed towards law enforcement, legislative systems. It will be explored what’s outdated, unfair, and what needs to change.
This eclipse favors concluding processes, renouncing harmful habits, outdated relationships, activities. If you decide to do so, you can free yourself from the oppressive past for good. However, one must know that decisions made will be hard to reverse. Still, during the eclipse, you’ll face the consequences of previous choices.
I will write about the eclipse’s impact on zodiac signs soon.
Lunar Eclipse on October 28th
The peculiarity of the lunar eclipse is that it forms during the full moon, always an opposition between the Sun and Moon. If, during a regular full moon, some find it hard to control their emotions due to an energy surplus and the opposition tearing them in two, it’s even more challenging during an eclipse when the Earth lies in a direct line between the Sun and Moon.
On one side of the opposition, in Scorpio, will be the Sun, Mercury, and Mars in a strong position, while on the other will be the Moon, Jupiter in Taurus, and Uranus a bit further away.
This is where the need for well-being, comfort, and security (Moon and Jupiter in Taurus) clashes with the necessity for transformation, an impulse to act and to claim one’s place. The mind and consciousness will be sharp and biting; there won’t be a lack of verbal and other battles. One should discern if they’re worth engaging in and whether they are your battles to fight.
This accumulation will have moved out of the Rahu-Ketu axis, so there will be less lingering on the past and dependency on it. However, it’s an emotionally complex time due to intense pressure, potent energies, and contrasting programs.
This eclipse will be more intensely felt by representatives of the Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius zodiac signs. It will be more harmonious for Cancer and Pisces signs.
In society, it will raise issues related to finances, various funds, insurance, economic problems, choices of war and peace, and seek solutions to them.
Natural questions might arise
- How to balance personal and common finances, earnings and investments, active and passive income?
- How to harmonize well-being with the need for growth and change?
- How to find new sources of income, supplement one’s income? Yes, it’s worth looking for methods, new ways, solutions, but one should understand that the main wave of change, new initiatives will find their path at the beginning of next year. Now is the time for preparation, tuning in, selecting methods and paths, letting go of old behavior patterns, and exploring new ones.
